Why we made Bootmark
There is a place nicknamed "End of the World" in Edmonton. It is an old construction ruin on the riverbank with one of the best views of the city. It has become such a phenomenon that you can now find it on Google maps. This got us thinking: "before being on Google Maps, how would you know about this amazing place if you didn't have any friends who had been there?"
We wanted to create a way to share places like this with others before they exist on major mapping services. As the idea developed, we thought it would be great to be able to leave a song, an article, a message...something for people to discover at those places. The result was Bootmark, and we sincerely hope that you love it as much as we do!
Maximize the potential of location.
What is Bootmark?
Bootmark is a social media app for sharing places and experiences there with your friends.
What can it do?
We're sure we haven't yet thought of all the possibilities that Bootmark offers, but here's a few examples:
CREATE A DIGITAL SCRAPBOOK (PHOTOS)
Want to remember a camping trip from last year? Post your photos at the campsite...they'll stay there. Then when you run into the "where was that again?" problem you can see where it was and enjoy the photos you took on the trip.
ADVERTISE YOUR BUSINESS (LINKS)
Did your coffee shop make it into the paper last year? Post the link to your location: other users can see the link and read about why you're so awesome, plus they'll know how to get there.
curate your anniversary (VIDEO/media)
Celebrating 5 years with the love of your life? Leave them videos and songs at different spots where you know they'll be that day. They'll receive your notes as they move around during their day. Relationship win.
LEAVE YOUR GROCERY LIST AT THE STORE (TEXT)
Planning to make a grocery run sometime but not sure when? Worried about losing your list? Post your list at the store so that you receive it when you get there. No more scrolling through your photos or texts to find it.
I want to try it!
